How it works
How drivers rent a cab and take fares, how players hail a ride, and the keys and commands.
Drive a taxi
- Go to the Downtown Cab Co. depot, the taxi blip near
889, -176. - Target the depot worker and pick Downtown Cab Co. The taxi tablet opens with your level, vehicles, company, achievements and leaderboards.
- Rent a cab in the Vehicles tab. Which cabs you can rent depends on your driver level.
- Take the keys from the desk. The cab is booked for you until you do.
- Get in your cab and press J to open taxi calls: NPC fares from the contract board and player hails.
- Accept one, drive to the pickup, collect the rider and take them to the drop-off. You are paid and earn experience when the fare completes, sometimes with a tip.
- Back at the depot, press F inside the return area to hand the cab back.
If you hold a rental without taking a fare for too long, the depot takes it back. You get a warning first.
By default anyone can drive. To limit it to a job, turn on Global Job Requirement or set a Required Job on the depot. See Configuration.
Hail a taxi
Players hail a ride from the Taxi phone app, or with /calltaxi. A driver on duty takes the call. When no driver has a cab out, an NPC cab comes instead.
Companies
Drivers from level 5 can create a taxi company from the Organization tab, for a 25000 deposit. Companies level up, buy cabs for their own fleet and work through a challenge board together.
